Welcome to Umami ("the App"), operated by &Friends Ltd (trading as Near X Far) ("we", "our", "us"). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Definitions
App: the Umami mobile application and related services.
You: the person using the App.
Content: text, images, videos, recipes, conversions, and other materials available via the App.
2. Use of the App
Free Users: limited recipe conversions and recipe "asks" (AI-powered questions or modifications).
Subscribers: paid users gain access to expanded or unlimited conversions and features.
Age Restriction: the App is intended for users aged 18 and over.
Use the App only for personal, non-commercial purposes and in accordance with applicable law.
3. Subscriptions & Payments
Subscriptions are managed through RevenueCat, which connects to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Payments, renewals, and cancellations are handled by Apple or Google according to their policies. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled through your store account before renewal. We do not process or store your payment details.
4. Recipes & Content
Source Material: you may pass a recipe from a social media platform into the App. We do not host or own the original video—rights remain with the original creator.
Converted Recipes: recipes generated by the App’s AI/conversion features are communal and may remain available to other users even if you delete your account.
Ownership: we own the branding, design, code, and any recipes generated by the AI conversion process. The original video remains the property of its rights holder.
5. Experimental AI Features
The App uses experimental AI-powered recipe conversions and nutritional analysis. While we strive for accuracy, results may be incomplete or incorrect, including ingredients, measurements, instructions, nutritional information, and allergen details. You agree not to rely on AI outputs as definitive dietary or medical advice. Always verify ingredients and allergens.
6. Prohibited Conduct
Scraping, bulk copying, or reselling content without permission.
Reverse engineering, interfering with, or disrupting the App.
Using the App for unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purposes.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
7. Liability Disclaimer
Recipes and nutritional/allergen data are for informational purposes only and may not be accurate.
We are not responsible for adverse effects or outcomes from following recipes generated by the App.
You are responsible for verifying ingredients and allergen information before consumption.
8. Account Deletion
You may delete your account at any time. Converted recipes will remain as part of the communal recipe database. Your personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, misuse the App, or engage in fraudulent activity.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed under the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If significant changes are made, we will notify you in the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
